Pictures of the Week

(Nov. 17, 2019)
This week we talked to Rachel via video chat the entire time she had to talk and write emails, so she sent these pics, but no email.  She is doing very well and really enjoying getting to know old friends, meet new people in PJ and the surrounding cities, and try new, delicious foods. She sends her love from western Malaysia!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...in Malaysia!

Selamat pagi dari PJ (Good morning from PJ)!                                                            Nov. 10, 2019
This is going to be short, but I wanted to share a few things that happened this week.  Since there is no Thanksgiving here, basically everyone moved on to Christmas on Nov. 1st.  It's so fun to see the decorations and hear songs, but the weather does not scream Christmas, so my heart is excited but my brain is really confused.  Haha!
This week has been awesome.  PJ is great!  We meet the coolest and nicest people!  There are people from all over the world, so we learn how to say greetings or phrases in Chinese, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Hindi, Tamil, and a whole BUNCH of other languages.
We got to meet with a really cool Filipino lady and some of her friends the other night.  At the end of the lesson, when we asked if they had any questions, one of them asked, "Where can I get one of those books?!"  So, we gave them all a Book of Mormon and we're meeting with them again this week! Also, two of our friends came to church yesterday, including a friend who we've known for forever, but he hasn't come until now!  Ah, missionary work is so awesome! :)
Guess what I saw this week on exchanges in Puchong?...a CARWASH!  It was basically a tent with wash supplies.  Haha!  I love it!  (For those who didn't know, Rachel worked at Crew Carwash for a year before her mission. That is why this is so significant to her.)
Well, I wish everyone a wonderful week!  Selamat tinggal (Goodbye)!

Avenger's Fans...look like anything you know?
(No this is isn't the real thing, but for Rachel, it reminded her of the Stark Tower!)

Zone Conference in Singapore and P-day Travel...What Blessings!

Selamat pagi dari PJ (Good morning from PJ)!                                                                         Nov. 3, 2019

Everything is going bagus (good) here. It's monsoon season and I looooove it! (No sarcasm...it's actually super fun. The thunder cracks so loud and your shoes get so wet...it's just the best.)
We got to go to Singapore for Zone Conference this week, which was a blast! We were spiritually and physically fed...a lot. :) (All of the missionaries in Malaysia have to go back to Singapore every 90 days to renew their Visa's, so they have a zone conference at that time.) We got to see the sights inside the world-famous Singapore airport, as well as travel to Kuala Lumpur and see the famous Batu Caves.
Saturday, we were traveling to a mall and stopped at a station to do language study. We did it for about 15 minutes, but then realized we had to get going to the mall or we'd get stuck in a traffic jam. We got onto the LRT and started talking to a woman in a yellow shirt. She told us immediately, "My english not so good, sorry." So we asked her if she spoke Bahasa (Malay), and she said yes! We talked to her in Malay for about 15 minutes while riding to our stop. It was a small blessing, but God recognized our efforts and blessed us with an unexpected Bahasa study. :) In one of my favorite hymns, it says "if we do what's right we have no need to fear, for the Lord, our helper, will ever be near." In your efforts to do your best, even during the craziest days when you feel like nothing is going the way you want, He will bless you for every effort you give. He is cheering you on, always.
You're in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you feel Heavenly Father's love for you and have a super awesome week!

Malaysia has monkeys everywhere!

That's why there are signs showing, "Don't Feed the Monkeys!"

Someone didn't listen...or this monkey is good at snatching from humans.
